I graduated from Jackson Memorial School of Nursing in Miami Florida and was licensed as an RN in 1973. In 1989, I graduated from the California School of Professional Psychology in 1989. Following post-doctoral hours at Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute, I was licensed as a psychologist in 1992. I obtained a master's degree in science and graduated from UCSF School of Nursing in the Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) program in 2011.
Currently, I am a health sciences clinical professor at UCSF School of Dentistry and Chair of the Division of Behavioral Sciences and Community Dental Education. In 2007 I was awarded the UCSF Champion of Diversity pin in 2007 for developing the School of Dentistry's cultural competency curriculum and forwarding the UCSF campus goal of contributing to a diverse and inclusive environment. I previously chaired the Chancellor's Committee on Disability Issues where we examined policies and programs as they impacted individuals on campus with visible and invisible disabilities. I have been actively involved in dental curriculum reform since 2004. I am an ally for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals -patients, students, staff, and faculty. I am a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Nurses Association, and the American Dental Education Association. As a mentor and advocate, I am dedicated to teaching and patient care.
